We got to KL airport at 12:30 noon and had to hang around til 3am the next morning. So we decided to go to town. We went to china town markets where i had my first experience of stall owners "pulling" us into their stalls. There was some pretty cool stuff there and i bought a belt with a batman buckle, at least my pants will stay up in Egypt.

We bought another bag because one of the ones we had has a dodgy zip. Mum went to an ATM machine and thought it ate her card. After alot of kerfuffle she realised that she'd put it in her pocket!

We are back at the airport after going to Bukit Bintang for dinner of kababs and chicken wings. Of course mum and dad couldn't stop eating the local food like ice kachang and durian! After a long long day of walking our feet are very sore.

how much «stuff» does one need?

so i'm currently trying to pack but as usual have far too much! am also trying to learn how to type on a keypad thats smaller than my palm! yikes i will need to limit my words.
thank goodness i hear you mutter. ;)
note to self: when ben tries to tell me that a kindle [e_book reader] is the best thing to take on our travels just dont get sucked in!

Off to the Land of the Pharoahs!

Egypt beckons again 2 years after we had to cancel our plans to visit there! (thanks Ben!)

We plan to spend 24 glorious days travelling the highways and byways of this ancient land and hopefully getting very lost sometimes!

Here is our rough itinerary:

Day 1 (Tuesday 28^th Dec) - Land in Cairo 2pm. - spend 4 nights there
Day 2 – Wed 29th Dec) - Sightseeing - Islamic Cairo, Egyptian Museum etc.Whirling Dervish show in the evening

Day 3 – (Thurs 30th Dec) - Day spent visiting all the pyramids at Giza, Saqqara and Dashur

Day 4 - (Fri 31st Dec) - Sightsee – Coptic Cairo etc..

Day 5 - (Sat 1st Jan) - shopping, catch night train to Aswan

Day 6 - (Sun 2nd Jan) - arrive Aswan approx  8am. - spend 3 nights there. sightsee Nubian museum etc.
Day 7 - (Mon 3rd Jan) - Tour to Abu Simbel. Sightsee in Aswan - tombs etc.
Day 8 - (Tues 4th Jan) - Felucca to Elephantine Island, shopping etc.

Day 9 - Day 11 - (Wed 5th - Fri 7th Jan) - Felucca trip over 2 days and 2 nights

Day 11 - (Fri 7th Jan) - Reach Kom Ombo, catch bus to Luxor - spend 4 nights there

Day 11 - 14 – (Fri 7th - 10th Jan) - Luxor - sightseeing, hot air balloon
Day 15 – (Tue 11th Jan) - fly to Sharm and bus/car/taxi to Dahab – spend 4 nights there - climb Mt Sinai, snorkel (boys and I), dive (Ben), camel ride in the desert with the Bedouins etc.
Day 19 – (Sat 15th Jan) - take 8:30am bus to Taba then overland via Eilat (Israel), to Aqaba (Jordan) and bus to Petra. Spend 3 nights there

Day 22 – (Tue 18th Jan) - car to Amman along Kings Highway, stopping for a dip at the Dead Sea! Reach airport and fly to Cairo. Spend 2 nights in Cairo.

Day 23 – (Wed 19th Jan) - souq/sightseeing/Birquash Camel market (if we can handle the smell)

Day 24 – (Thurs 20th Jan) - last minute shopping and chilling before flying out.

Day 25 - Day 27 - KL visiting friends

Arrive Perth January 24th.
